Something to do Outside the Beaches and Theme Parks

If you are looking to do something a little different while visiting Florida consider going to pick fruit. It’s a great way to see some of the countryside you might just drive right by. An inexpensive cooler from Walmart and ice from the hotel ice machine and you are ready to enjoy some fresh fruit. Ever wonder what a strawberry tastes like? Not like what you buy in the store. Fair warning here, once you’ve had a berry, or any fruit just picked it spoils you forever. My daughter is still talking about the cherries we picked on vacation 5 years ago. Depending on the season you can easily find strawberries followed by blueberries. Here’s a link to a farm in Brooksville that we like to visit. A quick search will provide many other options. If your driving a rental car save some cash for berries by getting a toll transponder from rental car transponders. The Suncoast Parkway which is the closet highway to JG Ranch still has actual toll booths where you can pay cash. I’m not sure you can get to the booth without activating the rental car transponder and incurring big charges. Using a Tolltraxx transponder from Rental Car Transponders allows you to use the high speed bypass lanes. No tollbooths. The price difference? Even with our .50¢ service fee your total cost is .07¢ more than cash. Well worth the price. Convenience has never cost less.
